The night was black as pitch when the caravan pulled into the field at the edge of town. The first person out of the foremost van was a woman at once as old as time and as young as the new spring grass that had begun to sprout in the field. Her hair was as white as thoroughly burned ash and her skin was lightly tanned from years on the road. She smiled and pulled a walkie-talkie from her pants pocket. “We set up here. Sleep tonight. Tomorrow, we start the show.”

"alright, Madame. I shall gather the rest of the cirque." said a dark voice from the microphone. The man who had spoken turned to everyone around him, and smiled. "We've found the next place for us to perform in!" with that, he got back into the van, and drove forward. He had to close the distance between himself and the Madame. being apart to long bothered him.

Madame smiled and leaned against her van, looking forward to actually sleeping in a tent as opposed to the confines of the van. She sighed as she waited for Hibernious to get there. She hated this arrangement, him driving another van, she didn't have anyone to talk to on the drive unless she felt like driving one-handed and opperating the walkie-talkie. She needed to get a cell phone at some point, it would make life much easier, but she had never been overly fond of technology.

As he rounded the last corner, the Madames van came into sight. rather than wait for the van to get there, he turned it off and stepped out, running towards the madame. it was interesting, moving faster than most people could even see. it felt good to feel the breeze against me he refelcted. He stopped by her side and smiled down at her.

Madame smiled as she looked up at the inordinantly tall man who was looking down at her. "Took you long enough Hibernious. I was wondering if you'd get here at all." She laughed and wrapped her arms around him. "I missed you."

"You try directing them down a road. They're like lemmings. and i missed you too." Mr. Tall said as he leaned down to kiss the Madame. he held her tightly in his arms, and glanced around. "Are you sure you'd like to perform here? seems rather... Drab. I thought you liked performing in the big cities?" he asked, chuckling.

She laughed. "If they're like lemmings then where one goes the others should follow. Also, big cities are all very well and good, but I like a change of pace now and then too. And small towns are nice for that. Besides, I've been feeling a bit tired lately, I need a rest. This place will be perfect for one."

"sounds good to me. and yes, the others do follow one. look there." he said as the other vans pulled into the field. "and as for a rest, i think we will have a nice one tonight." he kissed her again, then turned to welcome the rest of the cirque

Madame leaned against Mr. Tall and smiled as her children pulled into the field. She knew they worked hard to keep up with her, not to mention the man next to her. Her demands could seem unreasonable at times, yet they never complained. But then, why should they, for all the work, this was better than most of the "freak shows" she had saved them from. Many knew no other home but this, and she was glad of it. She pressed herself closer to Mr. Tall and sighed softly.

"are you happy here madame?" Mr. Tall asked, planning. there was nothing here for them to do the show in, so they would have to set up the tent, which would take most of the next day. he felt suddenly fatigued at the idea. setting up the perfomance tent was always a hastle, and the assistant who was best at helping him do it had left on vacation. as it was, they would probably spend most of the night setting up their own tents. then most of the next day setting up for the show. if they were lucky they'd be ready by tomorrow night. the show would be worth it though, he thought.

Madame smiled. "Yes. I am. The tent will be a difficulty to set up, but it will be well worth it. We may have to take a rest before hand, it you're not opposed to it." She looked up and smiled more brightly.

"why madame" he said "if i didn't know you, i would think you're flirting with me" he said with a chuckle, and a bright smile towards the woman he loved. it was strange, he thought, how natural this love felt after eons of being alone. he rather liked it.

"Am I not allowed to flirt with you Hibernious? One would think it acceptable, seeing as we're in a relationship after all." She laughed, standing on her tip toes to kiss his cheek. She was perfectly content to be with him. Solitude became her poorly. Her mood had much improved since Hibernious' arrival, which many members of the cirque had not known possible.

"and i am glad we are..." he said, something strange in his tone "but i do think i'd like to take our relationship farther." he said, looking into her slightly confused eyes

"What do you mean?" Madame tilted her head to the side, she knew Hibernious could see the confusion in her eyes.
